Info about some common Injuries in Golf

Among the most common injuries suffered by (amateur) golfers are lower back pain, elbow injuries, shoulder pain, knees, wrists and ankle injuries. Lower back pain, for example, often results from poor techniques and the repetition of hitting balls. It can be greatly aggravated i.e. when you hit the ground instead of the ball.

Most golfers don't realize that swinging a golf club can put a pressure of eight times your body weight onto your spine. The golf swing is considered a very unnatural movement for most people, particularly for people with a sedentary lifestyle. It is even worse for golfers who do not stretch or warm up before a round.

Before you are starting your round, stretch and swing the golf club gently to help warm up the relevant muscles. Please take note that golf practice should begin with the smaller irons and progress up to the larger woods. This process allows the muscles to incrementally warm up, but what about the pre-existing pain? There are a few methods of relieving the pains caused by golfing or pre-existing conditions which will be introduced in the following articles. Use the information for prevention and to alleviate any existing pain, and check with your doctor if in doubt. If you are serious about golf and intend to play for a long time with minimum risk of injury, you should work with a golf coach and physiotherapists. Also, see a physician immediately if you have constant pain or major discomfort during or after a round of golf.
