Golf Health Info for Senior Golfers
Playing golf is a way of life - to stay healthy, get exercise, strengthen relationships and have fun; all at the same time. Even though golf is considered a low-risk sport it requires some level of endurance. A certain amount of strength is required for your swing. The swinging of your clubs uses different muscles; the arm, back, shoulder, and leg muscles all get used quite a bit during a single game of golf.
The best treatment for any injury is always prevention. Common injuries for seniors are to the lower back, hip, wrist, knee and elbow. Causes of injury include overuse of muscles, incorrect techniques and aggravation of previous injuries. Arthritis, stress fractures and spinal stenosis are other possible culprits that can cause back injuries to senior golfers.
The golf swing is considered a very unnatural movement for most people, especially for people with a sedentary lifestyle. It is even worse for golfers who do not stretch or warm up before a round. (Excited to start the round perhaps?)
At GolfHealthCare.com we focus on injury related issues for seniors and propose alternative approaches to prevent the injuries from happening (again). As for the existing injuries, we can only recommend on how to alleviate the pain so that you can enjoy your round. It's never too late to start taking care of yourself.
